Review: Crowns for Convoy LOVE YOU!

The countdown is over! It’s official; Crowns for Convoy love you this Valentine’s Day. What’s more loving than a chick flick marathon? Actually, a chick flick marathon is super lame. Let’s try again. What makes Valentine’s Day better? An awesome soundtrack!

Crowns for Convoy shares an eclectic taste in musical inspiration. The band has a zest for experimentation. They skillfully mix different sounds with dexterity. The most intriguing element of their music is when they bridge easy-listening music with techno-esque cameos. It’s like Dave Matthews meets Aphex Twins. I know you are looking at me weird but listen to “Kingdom” and you’ll see where I am coming from. I think developing this sound and incorporating it with more deliberate techno-undertones would be pretty boss for future songs…hint hint. I must also note that unlike a lot of bands who are hitting the scene, CFC produce beautifully intricate and emotionally charged lyrics.

It’s one thing to listen to the polished studio versions of their songs, but the band takes their music to another realm during live performances. The connection they have with the songs they’ve produced is palpable. During their CD release party last summer, the room came to life as each note boomed with passion and accuracy. CFC’s on-stage chemistry is organic and electric. Lucky for you, they are having a jam packed year with a bunch of performances. Insert shameless plug here: you can see what all the fuss is about on March 2, 2013 at the Silver Dollar Room.
