Top Ten: My Chemical Romance

MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE

My Chemical Romance recently announced that they will no longer be making music together as a band. Fans were shocked and horrified; the world just won’t be the same without MCR. Luckily we’ll always have the amazing music that they released over the span of their 12 year career. In celebration of that, here’s a list of the ten essential My Chemical Romance songs.

10. Famous Last Words

The  closer to 2006’s epic “The Black Parade”, this song is the glimmer of light at the end of a very dark tunnel. “I am not afraid to keep on living, I am not afraid to walk this world alone.”

9. Save Yourself, I’ll Hold Them Back

After a pretty drastic change in tone from “The Black Parade” to “Danger Days”, this song was the perfect taste of the old MCR.

8. You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison

The title of the song alone said it all. My Chemical Romance were not afraid to tackle any subject matter.

7. Thank You For The Venom

Fast and unrelenting, this song is classic MCR.

6. Teenagers

A perfect anthem for their fanbase: “They said all teenagers scare the living shit out of me…”

5. Sing

Another anthem, this one was bright and encouraging.

4. Skylines And Turnstiles

The first My Chem song ever written, this is the song where it all began. It’s rough and unpolished, but the band’s potential is evident in every note.

3. I’m Not Okay

Probably the song the band will always be known for. Its catchy and dark all at once.

2. Helena

Emotional and tragic, this song is everything a good song should be.

1. It’s Not A Fashion Statement, It’s a Deathwish

My favorite song of all time, it’s angry and romantic all at the same time. It’s nothing like any other song ever written, just like no other band will ever compare to My Chemical Romance.
